The class schedule for Fall 2009 has been set. Some of the classes are short - one evening and you take home your finished project...some are 2 or 3 evenings over a few weeks....and some are of the "sit and sew" variety where you work on your own project and I'll help with fitting and things that have you "stuck".
One thing all the classes have in common is a focus on fit. There is no point in spending the time and money to make a garment, and have it look like it doesn't fit you. Before you ever cut the fabric, we'll ensure that the garment you're about to make will fit and flatter your body, using Palmer-Pletsch tissue fitting techniques.
Sew With Cindy - an evening of unstructured sewing where you bring your project, meet some other like-minded sewists, get inspired by seeing what others are working on, and receive help with fitting or techniques that have you stalled.
Vintage PJ's - a short class where you'll learn some basic fitting techniques and take (or wear) home a pair of PJ bottoms. There is some funky leg trim that will make them vintage or fun, depending on your choice of materials. I'll also show you how to use the pattern to make sweats, shorts and add a pocket or other design details. Good for the beginner sewist.
Jacket Creativity - using the Mixed Media pattern (or a similar pattern of your choice), have fun using a variety of fabric colors and textures to create your very own statement jacket. A good class to re-use some "experienced" fabric that you can't bear to discard, or combine those bits and pieces you've been saving. Or use the same pattern, buy new fabric and make a blouse instead of a jacket. Good for the confident beginner sewist.
Zip it Up - a short class where you'll learn how to insert a zipper 3 different ways...and you'll take home a small zippered "ditty" bag. Never be afraid of zippers again!
Skirt Inspirations - using the Mixed Media pattern, make a simple gored skirt. Explore textures, drape and color by combining different fabrics, or make it from one fabric. Embellish the seams, add trim....you'll see lots of variations to make the skirt truly your own style. Good for the confident beginner.
