Hello!

My name is Cindy Chambers, and I purchased the business of Akasha Clothing from the original designer and owner earlier this year.  I am a certified Palmer-Pletsch fitting instructor, and regularly teach classes in Calgary and Okotoks.

Sewing has been a part of my life since before I started elementary school.  Like many people, my body isn't the same shape as commercial patterns, nor can I consistently find ready-to-wear clothing that I like and which fits properly.  And while I'd like to think that the pattern companies are to blame....in reality, there are so many variations on the human body, there's no way that a pattern can possibly fit everyone.  The only solution is to fit and alter the pattern for my body shape....and now I am thrilled to be teaching others how easy it is to alter a pattern to fit and flatter your body.  The sewing process is so much more enjoyable when you complete a garment that fits you and which people compliment!

Purchasing Akasha Clothing was a natural extension of the fitting classes.  I love the combinations of textures and colors that are possible with the Akasha line of patterns, and the fact that they so readily lend themselves to travelling.
